Marriage Essentials

"Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate"

Seven Official Rules for a Good, Clean Fight

1. Before we begin, we must both agree that the time is right. (Colossians 3:17)

2. We will remember that our only battle aim is a deeper understanding of each other. (Proverbs 3:5)

3. We will check our weapons often to be sure they're not deadly. (2 Corinthians 10:4)

4. We will lower our voices instead of raising them. (John 18:37)

5. We will never quarrel in public or reveal private matters (Proverbs 3:25)

6. We will discuss an armistice whenever either us calls "halt" (Psalm 38:17)

7. When we have come to terms, we will put it away until we both agree it needs more discussing (Matthew 18:18-20)

The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes.

Open Diary

"No one Person or Situation should determine your mood. Be Determined to maintain your Happiness!"
Today I was going to write about something a little different but something happened to me yesterday that changed the course of my day yesterday and today and I want to share...

Yesterday was a good day.
I woke up, took a deep breath and thanked God for another day. I felt good!!
Dressing for work is easy these days, 'its cold' ...jeans, sweater, boots and a leather jacket. And there you have it.
Meditated while driving 45 minutes to work. Meditation is a requirement not an option!
Work was expected no surprise there. Michele being there helps!

My Thursdays are driven by the anticipation of seeing my son play basketball with his school. Nothing can change my mental destination because I am his BIGGEST FAN and I want to support him in all things especially basketball because it means a lot to him. I smile more, work harder because I am blessed to have such a great son.
Playing BasketballThe game was a big adrenaline rush. The score was so close, I was on the edge of my seat, yelling, sweating and excited. Excited for the team and prayed they were going to win since they were down by 1 point. He had the ball, he bobbed, weaved, swooshed by the other players and expertly maneuvered his way down the court with the opposing team on his heels , breathing down his neck ready for him to slip up...in a split second the opposing team player pushed my son down and he slid across the floor as the ball went in the other direction. Everything slowed down as I watched him slide, and he continued to slide and I continued watch frozen, paralyzed...ready to hop down the bleachers' to fight anyone that got in my way. But before I had a chance to react he was up, got the ball again and SWOOSSSHHHH! He made the shot. We are now 1 point ahead, with a few seconds on the clock left and the opposing team is aggressively trying to make it down court ...BUZZER! The crowd jumps up and all hands in the air as if we are at a concert, whistling, yelling and proud of our boys!! We won and my son made the winning point. I am so proud..so proud so proud so proud.

All good things come to an end...at least they do for me Disappointed smile

His whole attitude changed when I would not allow him to stay for the 2nd game to watch the A team play. His attitude changed the whole direction of my night. All I will say is I cried myself to sleep because my feelings were so hurt.  Hurt at his outburst, the selfishness, the lack of regard for me, and at his reaction to something so trivial. No way am I perfect, but I am at every game, cheering, motivating, supporting through the good times and bad at every function, and this is what I have to contend with? I do realize I am a little sensitive, and my feelings are easily hurt but what can I say...I am a Pisces. We love hard.

I guess this is all apart of being a mother ... but it is defeating when you do all can without a supporting biological father (sperm donor) and this is how it goes down. When does one realize what they have...when its gone?

Time and Fear

Healing
Give yourself a little more time
Time is suppose to heal
What time is it?
Don’t know
Lost track of time
Along time ago
Time heals
Time is on my side
Where were you when I had time
Don’t know
Time is up
It was gone along time ago
It still hurts
Time stood still
Time waits for no one

My Journal
January 18, 2006

The most horrible, deafening sound woke me up at this morning. It took a few moments before my thoughts were clear
Now....fully awake.
The sound transmitted through the room as if it was speaking with a microphone. There are no words to describe the sound other than it was torturous. Just as quickly as the sound started it stopped.
Silence
Nothing
It’s cold

Conversation with my ipod

Soulful tunes with me and my Ipod….

Me: umm what do I feel like listening to today?
Ipod: I have a lot of things to play. What do you want to hear?"
Me: seems you are always playing
Ipod: ok genius that is what I do “play”…..
Me: No need for sarcasm this early in the morning
Ipod: No need to point out the obvious THIS early in the morning..okayyyyy
Me: whatever…sometimes I think you know me better than I know myself so you choose
Ipod: fine! ok, let’s just put it on shuffle and go from there.
ME: then you take the risk of playing something I don’t wanna hear...I do control the "OFF" button
Ipod: don’t forget..you control “REPEAT” now don’t make me repeat myself. Now what’s up
Me: I CONTROL all of this,
Ipod: well I heard that Janet was in control
Me: one click and I can change your tune
Ipod: uuhh ok well, if you don’t like it, you can always skip to the next one, but I doubt you want to push the off button."
Me: I am running in the rain into the building
Me: I am in the bldg
Ipod: you can stand under my umbrella ella ella eh!..;cough, cough; oh sorry.
Me: keep it up, your going to be chasing pavements
Ipod: Ga Ga ooh la-la….want your bad romance.  You know that I want you , and you know, that I need you, I want it bad , your bad romance. Rah-rah-ra-ra- ra, ga-ga-ooh-la-la, WANT YOUR BAD ROMANCE!!!!!!!!!
Me: this is why I prefer TV rather than all these other distracting devices. At least I wouldn’t  get this flip unsolicited feedback after a simple request.
Ipod: with the TV, you have commercials.. with sexy lil me, you can play a song to sing along with, groove with me baby. Besides, nothing good is on TV right now PLUS you’re at work, so I am all you’ve got
Me: Shut up
Ipod: you pushed play
Me: don’t make me forget to plug you up
Ipod: don’t make me go Bobby Brown, it’s my Prerogative
Some ask me questions
Why am I so real
But they don't understand me
I really don't know the deal
About a brother trying hard to make it right”

Me: OK fine “shuffle”
Ipod: “I can’t stand the rain, against my window…..I”
Me: “SKIP”
Ipod:I saw you (and him, and him) walking in the rain, holding hands and I, will neva be the same”
Me: “SKIP”
Ipod: I make it rain, (I make it rain)
I make it rain on them honeys I make it rain,(I make It rain)
I make it rain on them honeys I make it rain,(I make it rain)
I make it rain on them honeys I make it rain(I make it rain)
I make it rain on them honeys
Me: Ok that’s it, im done with you for today
Ipod:Sometimes I'm goody goody, right now Im naughty naughty!
Me: I can not take you anywhere, this goes to show that …
Ipod: wait! Wait! let me make it up to you…. Let’s step in the name of love, let’s groove in the name of looovvee………………………
Me: Nope
Ipod: how about this one “ Im just a bachelor looking for a partner, Someone who knows how to vibe….Gotta be compatible takes me to my limits”
Me: Nope, you don’t know me at all…catch a clue
Ipod: ----All I need in this life of sin, is me and my girlfriend.
Down to ride 'til the very end, it's me and my boyfriend.
Me: Not even close…..the battery bar is on 2, near RED!
Ipod: you got me all Teary Eyed..
I wish I could change the way things have gone
And start life anew and now maybe once again
I don't know anywhere but sumthin must've went wrong
And all I can say.......Is when I sing this song, I get so teary eyed

The Game at its BEST! Tune in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

News Flash: It has been reported that 7.7 million viewers tuned in for the highly anticipated show of 2011 'The Game'. The show has not missed a beat since the last episode 2 years ago. The season premier of ‘The Game’ lived up to the hype last night as the drama unfolded in front of a large fan base.  BET has cosigned on some serious drama that will have everyone on their edge of the seats waiting in anticipation for the ‘mess’ to unfold every Tuesday.  I can not tell you first hand what everyone else was doing while watching the show, but if they are anything like me, I SHUT THE HOUSE DOWN…kids had to sit down and shut up while The Game had my divided, attention. Hypnotism at its best!

Facebookians lit up Facebook with commentary on every jaw dropping comment, scene and issue on the show. My phone went from ‘vibrate’ to ‘silent’ quick due to the overwhelming postings that burned up my Blackberry…

"Now I feel like I have to pray after The Game”

“I like the first episodes these must be new writers. S/N why did they have Tasha Mack smoking a black n mild?”

BET done turned The Game into another Tyler Perry movie(dramatic and predictable)

“ I love it I love it”

“That’s not your baby Derwin”

Character assessments:

Tasha: Reality at its best, she is the epidemy of crazy, sexy, cool and keeps it 100 (in my Ray J voice).  Not sure I like her with a younger man, I am bias because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Rick Foxx sexy azz, although I will admit it does bring something unique and vulnerable to her character. What’s up with the black n mild? That was random and I really didn’t appreciate it! I anticipate another relationship BLOOPER for Tasha. She has commitment issues!!!

Melanie: Med school. She cute...I do not think either one of the twins can get past ‘Cute’ in my opinion.  The weight loss was a shocker; she has no shape WHAT-SO-EVA but she cute.  Not completing her residency was not one of her best decisions but I understand however a lady should always have a backup plan! Whom-so-ever let her walk on set with that white dress on…pany lines are very unflattering. I’m going to need her to do better.

Derwin: Well deserved status boost on the make believe football field. Derwin has always been a little naive in my opinion but I think he gets it now, there is always going to be haters and tricks.  Sad he got caught slipping and now has a baby but that is life. I respect that he has manned up and is taking care of his little shorty. Very commendable and it sends a message that all Black men are not dead beat dads. Derwin is so fine!!

Malik: Shit rolls down hill. Malik is a typical ‘come from no where, get a little money, and get the big head’ kinda brotha. Slow it down Malik before you get GOT! That was a jacked up move he pulled on Tee Tee. Dirt begets dirt and what comes around goes around, is all I gotsta say!

Tee Tee: WEAK! Handle your business with your wing truck and cut Malik azz loose!

Jason: I have never liked his character. The script they lend him to re-enact on screen comes across very well…he got jokes BUT overall I am not feeling Jason.

Kelly: What the Deuce? The hair-do from last season balanced her out a bit because she was a thin line between woman and drag queen, now it’s all dudette!  She has muscles like a man, she look like a pimp called slick back with that hair, the tattoos are to much and she CAN NOT act! She weak and I foresee her reuniting with her boo Jason! I truly liked her better on the CW.

BAMM and there you have it!!!!! That is my truth and I am sticking to it~

Keep it locked folks every Tuesday!!!!

"Let's stay together" - Not sure where to go with this one!

New Season starts Tuesday!!

Clap ya hands everybody if you got what it takes ....these are the breaks!

Hot, Edgy and Sexy....

It ain't over to the games begin....Finally, the highly anticipated Season 4 The Game returns thanks to their dedicated fans and mad crazy support! Tonight is the season priemer and I personally can not wait to partake in the drama, with a bowl of popcorn and a glass of wine.

So many of our Black american shows get a raw deal and do not last as long even close to their White american counterparts. Honestly, I have not done my research so I have no idea why but I have a clue. Here is a run down of what I can remember..

The Cosby Show
A Different World
Living Single
The Jeffersons
In Living Color
Martin
Good Times
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
227
What's Happening
Jaime Foxx show

I can not take too much away from the TV people, we have made some strides in diversifying, integrating and including the darker persuastion on prime time TV. My kids do not discrimiate ..Disney is on their top list of channels they support and Disney has an array of ethnic groups but it would be nice to have more relateable shows. Everybody hates Chris is the bomb and if memory serves me correct I think it is no longer on the air. OH wait...there is one of our problems. No support. Hmm I love my black people but there has been nothing I can personally relate to. That may not be totally true but I grew up on the Jefferson, Goodtimes, Whats happening and all these shows I could identify with growing up living in the hood, my mom making ends meet blah blah blah..!

My TV choice now is REALITY..Basketball wives, Football wives, Housewives of ATL, now this I can totally relate except for the money part but the drama YES! lol

Anyway I had a point when I started and can not remember but right now I want to end with...see what happens when black folks stick together? We got GAME!

Night Yall

2nd Annual Clothing Swap, Shot & Network‏

Saturday April 18, 2009 was a day to remember. Woman of all colors and backgrounds came together for a common goal....to help others and each other.

Helping one another: Supporting my fellow females entrepueners in their endeavors and growth is a ease of heart of mind. So many times we (sisters) work against each other, talk about, put down, and beat down one another on so many levels. I myself am guilty of looking sideways, and commenting negatively about someone for their hair, walk, talk or whatever my jealous spirit will evoke at a moment. As I grow younger, there is a glow of maturity that follows me..so now when I see my sister of any color, my comments are "You Go Gurl"... for being successful, pretty, in shape, smart, and having class and style. And instead of bringing her down, I bring myself up by asking "how do you do it"?

My girl Joy in this picture with me is so talented. There is no description for how talented this woman is in so many areas of interest. Art, cooking, promoting, entertaining, writing and bringing people together are many of her talents. Wrapperlicious.com is on the MAP!
